Pedestrian and Cyclist Alliance for Clear Communication (2018)
The Pedestrian and Cyclist Alliance for Clear Communication is a shadow civic organization dedicated to fixing flawed bikelanes in NYC.
In addition to the improving clarity and safety on sites that have been neglicted by the city and property owners, the organization hopes to comment on the adversarial relationships that form unnecessarily because of bad urban design. In this case, because of the bad signage that does not indicate where the walkway is and where the bike lane is, it literally puts cyclists and pedestrians on a collision course and sets up the two groups in opposition to one another. In reality, the parties at fault are the developer who has created an unsafe situation and the city for failing to ensure safe public space.
